Sometimes the best way to know who your real friends are, is when they share the same love for a peanut butter and cheese sandwich as you do. Other times it is when they share the same emotional burden and past regrets that you carry as well. Either way, they both convey what I always believed to be the heart of a friendship, the mutual need of two people, at the right moment, at the right time, for the right reasons.
For that, there is no greater justification than the need to connect with someone in a world where we still feel alone in a crowd. Despite our eccentricities and our scars, despite the mediums and the distances, we are connected in our needs right here right now. For that, you are my friend.
